DATED 25th day of September, A. D. 1905. W.E. Mitchell, Attorney for Plaintiff.

SECOND:
This is a partial registration of a delayed birth certificate for William Spoonhour, an application made to the Iowa State Department of Health:

--(In it, he says he was born at Sidney, Iowa (sic) on June 7, 1876, being the son of Fred Spoonhour who was born in Germany to the best of his knowledge -- and -- of Dortha Neces (sic) who was born in Illinois. He signed his name as "William Spoonhour of 70385 Harper Ave Ills" and dated his application Jan 10, 1942.)

--There is no other information on this partial registration. I was not able to tell where in Illinois he was living in 1942.--Walter Farwell

THIRD:
Deb: Somewhere I must have run across the marriage of Fred and Dortha, but failed to make a note of where I found this. I have their marriage as Dec. 6, 1873 in St. Clair county, Illinois.--W.Farwell

FOURTH:
1880 Federal Census for Locust Grove township, Fremont county, Iowa:
Fred Spoonhaur.....aged 32.....born in Missouri
Dora................... 24.............Illinois
William................. 3.............Illinois
Daniel................. 2/12...........Iowa

FIFTH:
1885 Iowa State Census for Locusts Grove township, Fremont county, Iow:
#134.--Fred Spunhower, living on the East half of the Southeast quarter of section 19, township 67 range 40; he was a 37 year old farmer who had been born in Germany.
-------Dora, aged 32, born in Germany
-------Willie, aged 8, born in Fremont county.
-------Daniel, aged 5, born in Fremont county.
-------George, aged 0, born in Fremont county.

SIXTH:
In the book "Locust Grove Landmarks", on page 434, is a map of Locust Grove township, dated 1891. It shows the Spoonhour home as being in the southwest corner of the East half of the southeast quarter of section 19, on the west side of a stream called High Creek; as being 3/4 mile east of Madison Grove church; as being 1/4 of a mile west of High Creek Country School; with the post office of High Creek being just across the road.......(This puts the Spoonhour home on the county road called The Goldenrod, which ran from Hamburg on the west to Walkerville on the east.)

Remembering that the map locating the family in Locust Grove is dated 1891, I looked in another book called "1892 Farmers of Iowa": The family is not named in Locust Grove. It would seem that the family left soon after the death of Dortha.--W.F.

These six items are the extent of my information on the Spoonhour's of Locust Grove. There were others by the name of Neis, Nies, in Fremont county, but I have nothing which connects these two families.--Walter Farwell
