Dave, you don't mention a timeframe at all. Are we looking for evidence of these people in Grundy Center in the mid-1800s or after 1900 or what?

You don't mention whether you already have census data for this family, where Hinrich was born, whether he was an immigrant and--if so--from what country; 1900 & after indicate immigration year (which may or may not be accurate, but at least provides an estimate).

Because the surname is likely to be indexed with a variant spelling and Hinrich probably is listed as Henry or a variant, it would be helpful to know the names of his wife and children in order to identify him properly in a census. The earliest ANDR*S*N matches in Grundy county are in the 1895 IA State Census Index, but no Hinrich or variants are listed.

In 1895 IA State Census index, ANDR*S*N with first name variants like "Henry" show up in Cedar, Clinton, Ida and Shelby counties.
