I don't know about divorce records for Grundy county (you could call the county courthouse and ask whether such records were maintained at that time), but I did come across this news item:

Iowa State Reporter, Waterloo, Iowa | Wednesday, November 18, 1874 | Page 1
The Parkersburg *Eclipse* says that at the late term of court in Butler county, Samuel Wheaton aged about 60 years, got a divorce from his wife on the ground of incompatibility of temper. After nearly forty years of married life too.

Note that in the 1880 census, a Jane WHEATON born c1820 NY was enumerated in Parkersburg, Butler, IA, with daughters Laverna and Alice.
