I live in Missouri Valley and have found few, poor or nonexistence of
"official" cemetery records kept by a cemetery board or sexton. Some that I
have contacted only keep information regarding each plot as to who bought it
and when. Pretty sad I know but true. The Harrison County Genealogical
Society has walked all the cemeteries of the county - I think it was 33
cemeteries in 1985/1986 and published these records which are still for sale.
We have begun a project of updating them but I forsee this as a very long
project and no end in sight yet. We have the 1985/6 records of our
documenting each stone in the cemetery of Mount Carmel. I found a listing for
Esther and William Egan He is listed as William Egan, Jan 23, 1842-Jan 14,
1908 and she is Esther J Egan, Jan 9, 1852-Apr 13, 1909.
I found no listings for Charles and Mary Dean.
There is a biography in the 1915 History of Harrison County that gives
information on the Egans under biography for William Quinlan who married Ellen
Egan daughter of William and Esther Hubbard Egan. They were natives of County
Westmeath, Ireland and Scott County, IA respectively. William Egan came to
Harrison County in 1882, when he was 42 and took up farming. This information
is on pages 814-815 of the 1915 History of Harrison County. Email me for more
information and ordering a copy of this biography at
