Dwight W. Williard
LOGAN - The funeral for Dwight W. Willard, 74, of Logan will be Wednesday at
10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Logan with the Rev. Marv Siems
officiating.
Mr. Willard died Dec. 16 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha. He was born
June 22, 1917, in LeGrange Township, Harrison County, to Charles and Mertie
(Brownell) Willard. He attended and graduated from Logan High School. He
served in the Navy during World War II. When the Korean War started he was
drafted and served in the Army. He farmed in the Logan area until retiring in
1985. After his retirement he kept busy helping his sons on the farm, and
working part-time as a driver for Crusader Bus Lines in Logan, Agriland and
the ASCS Office. He served as sexton for the Harris Grove Cemetery for many
years, and he was a board member of the Harrison County Creamery Association.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge, V.F.W.
Mr. Willard was preceded in death by his wife, Doyne (Pettit), on Dec. 21,
1996.
Survivors include three sons, Craig and wife, Pat, of Lacey, Wash., Robert
and wife, Rose, of Logan and James and wife, Shelly, of Logan; one sister,
Wilda Barry, and husband, Dean, of Woodbine; nine grandchildren.
A Masonic service will be held tonight at 5:30 at the Logan Memorial Chapel
in Logan with visitation to follow from 7 to 8. Burial will be in Harris
Grove Cemetery in Logan with military rites conducted by VFW of Logan,
followed by a time of lunch and fellowship at the Methodist Church in Logan.
