Mary Walker
WOODBINE - The funeral for Mary Walker, 91, of Woodbine, will be Saturday at
2 p.m. at the Community of Christ Church in Woodbine with the Rev. Gary Lee
officiating.
Mrs. Walker died Feb. 26 at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley.
She was born Aug. 20, 1910, to Salem and Elizabeth (Houser) Towne near
Woodbine. She attended country school near Woodbine. She helped many area
families, including the Arthur Waite family. She married Lester Walker on
Feb. 15, 1934, near Woodbine. The couple farmed in the Woodbine area and for
three years near Harlan before returning to Woodbine.
Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 23, 1980, and a
daughter.
Survivors include a son, Dwayne "Doak" and wife, Sherry, of Woodbine; two
daughters, Betty and husband, Harlan, and Janice Baxter and husband, Wayne,
all of Omaha; a sister, Doris Waite of Missouri Valley; a brother, Willis
Towne and wife, Doris, of Harlan; six grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
Visitation is today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Fotus Funeral Home in
Woodbine. A prayer service will be tonight at 7:30 p.m., with visitation with
the family before and after. Burial will be in the Woodbine Cemetery.
