Virgil E. Turk
The funeral for Virgil Eris Turk, 96, of Avoca will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at
Underwood Lutheran Church with the Rev. Eberhard Hering officiating, with a
luncheon to follow immediately.
Mr. Turk died March 26 in Avoca.
He was born Oct. 5, 1905, in Tennant to August and Bertha Tradel Turk. He
previously lived in Tennant, Shelby and Persia, but he spent most of life in
McClelland. He graduated from Shelby High School in 1926. He farmed for 35
years on the family farm in McClelland, retiring in 1968. He was a member of
Underwood Lutheran Church.
Mr. Turk was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, daughter, Beverly Jo, and
son, Larry M. Turk.
Survivors include four daughters, Virgilene Ann Koenig of Council Bluffs,
Connie Wise and husband, Francis, of Avoca, LaDonna Parish and husband, Don,
of Underwood and Karen Larson and husband, Dave, of McClelland; three sons,
Wayne and wife, Patricia, of Council Bluffs, Edward "Buzz" of Underwood and
Gordon and wife, Roseanne, of Loveland, Colo.; 24 grandchildren; 51
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation with the family will be Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at
Belford-O'Neill Funeral Home. Burial will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Shelby
Cemetery in Shelby.
