Bernadine Marie Mercer, 81, Hebron, Neb., died March 14 at the Blue Valley Care Home, Hebron. Bernadine was born June 21, 1921 in Pisgah to Daisy (Hildreth) and Samuel Earleywine. She grew up in Pisgah and graduated from Pisgah High School in 1939. After graduation she worked in the Frank Street Drug Store, Council Bluffs, and also drove a streetcar in Omaha. Bernadine married John Mercer in Omaha, and the couple had one son, John Raymond. She enjoyed playing basketball and softball, and loved music and dancing. Bernadine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; three sisters, Verley, Rhea, and Retha; five brothers, Conley, Ray, Royal, Darold and Ralph. She is survived by her son, John; brother, Bill Earleywine and his wife, Ann, Wichita, Kans.; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services and interment were held at the Soldier Valley Cemetery, Pisgah, March 22, Elders Leroy Cave and Eugene Sherer, officiants.
