LaVon Holdsworth, 84, Missouri Valley, died March 26 at Longview Home, Missouri Valley. LaVon was born March 4, 1921 in Little Sioux to Roy and Minnie (Little) VanDonge. She was married to Harvey Baxter and, after his death, to Robert Holdsworth. LaVon resided in Council Bluffs until 1999 when she moved to Missouri Valley. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and dancing. LaVon was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Harvey Baxter and Robert Holdsworth.
Survivors include: her daughters, Karen Jacobsen and her husband, Rolland, Missouri Valley; Reta Brigham and special friend, Richard McCormick, Unadilla, Neb.; brother, Donald VanDonge, Missouri Valley; four grandchildren; step-grandchildren; stepson, Robert Holdsworth, Jr., and his wife, Linda, Omaha; and Loren Holdsworth, Des Moines; step-daughter, Doreene Mohr and her husband, Robert, Lake City; and three nieces. An Eagle's Service will be held today (Wednesday, March 30) at 7 p.m., with family visitations to follow, at Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home, Missouri Valley.
Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home, Thursday, March 31 at 11 a.m., Pastor Ron Wymer, officiant. Organist will be Genelle Riesland, vocalist will be Jennifer Neill.
Casket bearers will be: Mark Pope, Vern Jacobsen, Rolland W. Jacobsen, Bruce Thomas, Terry Jacobsen, and Christopher Anderson. Interment will be in the Little Sioux Cemetery. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Eagle's Club, Missouri Valley, following the committal service at the cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
