Roy E. Anderson, age 90, a Council Bluffs resident since 1929, passed away
June 28, 2005, at Woodlands Rehabilitation Center of natural causes.
He previously resided in Moorhead and Denison, Iowa, and Lincoln, Neb.
Roy was born in Woodbine, Iowa to Ernest G. and Nellie (Guyett) Anderson on
December 2, 1914. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1932. Roy
was a Switchman for the Union Pacific Railroad for 33 years retiring in 1975
and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the United
Transportation Union. He enjoyed working with light metal in his hobby shop and feeding
birds and squirrels.
Preceded in death by his wives, Veronica, in 1980, and Sophie, in 2003.
Survivors include son, Robert F. Anderson, and wife, Paula, of Arcadia,
Calif.; grandson, Jeffery Anderson; sister, Kathy Harvey, of Eagle Rock, Mo.;
brother, Glenn E. "Jack" Anderson, and wife, Gertie, of Iowa City, Iowa; nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Wake service is Thursday at 6pm at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home
with visitation following until 8pm. Funeral mass will be Friday at 10am at
St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Reverend John O. Bertogli, Pastor,
officiating.
Burial is at St. Joseph Cemetery with a lunch following at the church.
Memorials may be offered to Bayliss Park Fountain Renovation or a charity of
your choice.
