Marguerite K. Rief, age 87, of Council Bluffs passed away December 4, 2005, at Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley.

Marguerite was born April 23, 1918, in Woodbine, Iowa, to Michael & Ellen (Adams) Tiby. She graduated from Woodbine High School in 1936. She taught school in Woodbine before moving to Council Bluffs in 1940. She then spent 25 years teaching at Holy Family School in Council Bluffs before retiring in 1983. She was a member of Holy Family Church and its Altar & Rosary Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward L. Rief in 2000, parents, sister, Ruth & brothers, John & Leo Tiby.


She is survived by her son, Jim Rief & wife, Barbara of Katy, Texas; 2 granddaughters, Elizabeth Ferrin & Katherine Rief; 6 great grandchildren; & 1 great great grandson; sister, Rosemary Minder & husband, Greg of Mound, Minn.

Wake Service will be Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Rev. Glen Wilwerding will officiate. Interment Ridgewood Cemetery. Memorials to Holy Family Church or a charity of your choice.
