Marian Pearl (Clark) Robertson was born December 26, 1918 to James and Etta (Stepanek) Clark on a farm near Dow City, Iowa. She attended country school at Boyer #6 and graduated from Dow City High School. Marian was employed at Shea's store until she was united in marriage to Edwin John Robertson on January 24, 1943. The couple farmed until the late 1960s and then later moved into Dunlap. Marian was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dunlap and was active as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She held most of the offices for the United Methodist Women. After Eddie's death in 1976 she began working at the Dunlap school and then at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center. She worked at the nursing home for 25 years. Marian as an avid vegetable and flower gardener and she enjoyed taking baked goods to friends. At county fair time she had entries in all of the categories. Marian was always interested in school activities and she would always try to attend the various!
events. Marian died on Thursday, January 12, 2006, at her home in Dunlap, Iowa attaining the age of 87 years and 17 days. Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin; two infant siblings; three brothers, Russell, Louis and James (Toots); brothers-in-law, Emory Hansen, Woodrow Hansen, Arthur Christensen, and Donald Begg; and three sisters-in-law, Laurel Hansen, Jean Christiansen, and Barbara Roberts Clark. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn and her husband Mark Ryan of Red Wing, Minn.; son, Wayne of Dunlap, Iowa; grandson, Graham Ryan of Minneapolis, Minn., and granddaughter, Kim Ryan of Los Angeles, Calif.; three brothers, Donald and Tote Clark of Dow City, Richard and Patsy Clark and Francis and Faye Clark all of Denison, Iowa; one sister, Helen Begg of Dunlap, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Beth Clark of Denison, Iowa, Percilla Clark of Westside, Iowa and Elizabeth Hansen of Harlan, Iowa and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were h!
eld at the United Methodist Church in Dunlap Monday, January 16, 2006,
at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Sue Ellen Sherman and Pastor Carla Ingebretsen officiating. Reader was Rev. Brian Sherman. Musician was Barb Amsberry and soloist Eve Vonne Muff sang "Morning Has Broken" and "Take My Hand Precious Lord." Congregational hymns were "Here I Am Lord" and "Just As I Am Without One Plea." Recorded selection was "Go Rest High on that Mountain."
Interment was made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap, Iowa. Pallbearers were Tom Nave, Phil Fouts, David Adkins, John Heller, Craig Christiansen, Gene Peterson. Fouts Funeral Home of Dunlap was in charge of arrangements.
