Gail Warren Ring, 71, of Missouri Valley, died Saturday, June 10, 2006 at his home.

A celebration of life service was held Wednesday, June 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Missouri Valley with Pastor Robert Dagit officiating. Music selections were, "Wonder, Love, and Praise," by the Mid-America Symphonic Ensemble, John Leavitt, conductor; "He's Always There For You," and "Healing Rain." Inurnment will be at a later date in the Cheney Cemetery in Cheney, Neb.

Gail was born March 27, 1935 in Lincoln, Neb. to Joshua and Carrie Winifred Ring. He was born on his grandpa Ring's 68th birthday (William Fristo Ring.) Gail graduated in 1953 from Modale Consolidated School. He married Dolores Jean Fry October 20, 1956 in Missouri Valley. Gail and Dolores had three children Darla, Lyle and Paul and four grandchildren Melissa, Matt, Josh, and Ben. Gail retired from Vickers, Inc. of Omaha in 1996 where he was employed for over 37 years. After retirement he was able to spend time traveling and spending time with family and friends. Gail and Dolores spent a few winters in Alamo, Texas.

Over the years, Gail was a trustee for the First Lutheran Church and later the United Methodist Church of Missouri Valley. He was a Red Cross blood donor, Governor of the Nebraska Mayflower Descendants Society, and an Optimist. He was also a volunteer for the Missouri Valley Fire and Rescue Squad and volunteer in Missions projects. He was a leader for 4-H and Cub Scouts. For several years he was an appliance repair service man. Because Gail loved to sing, he sang in several choirs including the First Lutheran and Methodist Church choirs as well as the Harrison County Choir.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Norma June Ring and brothers, Paul Richard Ring and Clinton Ross Ring. Survivors include his wife Dolores; children Darla Jo Ring Schorr of Pekin, Ill., Lyle Ring of Missouri Valley, and Paul Ring (Karen) of Dunlap, Ill.; grandchildren Melissa and Matthew Schorr and their father Arvel Schorr of Belleville, Ill., and Joshua and Benjamin Ring of Dunlap, Ill. Also surviving are his brothers Dean (Lorraine) of Rock Island, Ill., and Jim (Theresa) Ring of Wichita, Kan.

The family wanted to thank all who helped Gail and Dolores during the last four years after Gail was diagnosed with ALS.

The Hennessy-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
