Henry County researchers,
There is another article in the Mt. Pleasant News about the
activities of the Pioneer Cemetery Commission.
You can acess the article at the Mt. Pleasant News site,
http://www.zwire.com/news/newslist.cfm?brd=1141.
On the left side of this page click News Archives. A search page
will come up. Search for "Cemetery Commission Continues Work" in
the title space and you will be able to get the headline and
click on it for the article.

At Labor Day I talked to Stan Hill and found out that the Iowa
Highway commission that is building a bypass of U.S 218 around
Mt. Pleasant was looking for an old cemetery to help preserve
it. Apparently the owner of the land had plowed it under. I
think the name of it was the Mennser Cemetery.
I also took a ride to the Willeford Cemetery. It is in very bad
condition--very much overgrown. There were only about 10 markers
standing.
On the more positive side, I talked to the archivist of the
Methodist Archives at Iowa Wesleyan College, Esther Wonderlitch.
She will do research for a fee. There are files for individual
chruches in Iowa and the annual conferences books. These have
many references to participants in the various annual
conferences, list of church members for various special purposes
and obituaries of deceased Methodist ministers.
The email address is . The address for the
Methodist Archives is
