Obituary

Sister Johnita (Evelyn) Sanders

Taken from her funeral card

Sr. Johnita (Evelyn) Sanders, 82, died September 21, 1991, at Marian Franciscan
Home, where she had been a resident since February 1989. Born in Houghton,
IA, she entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi at age 18.

Sister Johnita earned her degree in history from Cardinal Stritch College.
During 57 years of active ministry, she taught intermediate and junior
high grades at schools in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Colorado, and California.
She retired in 1987 at age 78.

Sister Johnita is survived by a brother, Eugene (Alice); sisters, Marge
(Carl) Lohman and Delores Lutz; brother-in-law, Dick Schofield; other relatives
and friends. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Sisters of
St. Francis of Assisi Memorial Fund.
