I made a "genealogical" request/askance for "...and I wonder if I can call
on all of you to possibly help." What in the world is going on here?
Suddenly, I am being asked WHERE I live because I made a request for help,
as though this is a chat room or something. When I made the request below, I
was told to "be responsible" and pay for the information via the Linn County
Historical Society in Cedar Rapids (they have moderate fees) which has many
copies of obituaries, was critiqued on their filing system and an address
for that Histoical Society was included. If you have NO interest in helping
with the message(s) displayed via this list for whatever reason, why respond
at all? What is the purpose of being on the list? If,, by chance, a family
member does surface due to a "request/askance" on a list, is this the forum
that is used to "chat" and "share" familial information with that one or
group of particular relation? Is this the way alllllllllll folks are greeted
in Linn county and/or on this list or is it "my turn" or something?
Not that I am interested in what somewhat else does with their personal
time, but did it ever occur to anyone on this list, that does actually do
genealogical research in a specific county or state, that the information
posted on the internet that you, no doubt, have utilized was obtained and
PAID FOR by somebody else so you could have it for FREE. It costs a bunch
for a site, let alone it's maintenance. Does that make everyone that is
utilizing this information irresponsible?
