Surname: White, Yocum
-------------------------
The following appeared in the Columbus Junction Safeguard, Columbus Jct.,
Louisa County, Iowa on April 24, 1895:
"Again on Friday, April 19, the keen sickle of death visited us, and has
taken from our midst the wife and companion of Mr. John White. Mrs. White
had long been a sufferer from consumption and to her death was a welcome
relief. Her maiden name was Sarah Yocum and she was born in 1857 at Wapello,
and grew to womanhood in Louisa County.
A husband, six children, an aged mother, three borthers, and two sisters
mourn her loss.
Funeral services were held at the Christian chapel, conducted by her pastor,
Rev. Hightshoe of Lone Tree to which the remains were followed by the largest
funeral procession that ever assembled at the Christian chapel. The remains
were laid to rest in the Swank cemetary."
