Hi Grandma Fern,

I found a Dixson-Plows connection on my research trip. The Genealogical
Society in Des Moines has some wonderful material on Lucas County. I did a
lot of copying. The 1895 Lucas Co. Census for Jackson Township has this:

William Plows 43 (my gg-grandfather)
Annie 34 (gg-grandmother)
Fred 13
Walter James 11
Lizzie Ann 10
Charles Edward 8 (my g-grandfather)
George Albert 5
Rose Hannah 3
Carrie Ellen 1

Then in the 1925 Iowa State Census, Jackson Township there's this;

James M. Dixson 42 no father's name given. Mother's name: Iola Mitchell
Lizzie 40 wife no father's name given. Mother's name: Anna Plows
William C. son 17 Father: James M. Dixon. Mother: Lizzie Plows
Dorthy L. 16 dau
James B. 14 son
Donald 3 son

Was it this Donald Dixson who had daughter Rhonda who married your oldest
son? Or did William's son, George Albert Plows have a daughter named
Elizabeth who married a Dixson and they had a Donald? I don't know who
George Albert married from my search. I needed a heck of a lot more time
than I had. I didn't find out anything about my g-grandfather, Charles
Edward Plows, Sr. Where and when he and Rhoda Haley were married (not in
Lucas or Polk counties), death date and place, where buried. I have an
approximate birth year from the census is all. I did find a lot of history
and the cemeteries were beautiful. I loved going up in the hills to Fry
and Rose Hill. William, Annie (Anna), and their son, Fred are buried at
Fry. Annie and William had two more children after 1895, Harry and Mabel.
Harry and his wife, Leona E. are buried at the Chariton Cemetery. Walter
James Plows married Grace W. Kays, and they're buried at Rose Hill.
Grace's parents, George and Laura Shield!
s Kays, are also buried at Rose Hill. A Betty Jean McCauley is buried in
their lot. Walter's sister, Mabel married an Isac McCauley. I'd
appreciate it greatly if you'd run this information by Rhonda and see if
we're "cousins". The trip was a success! Mary in ND
