Subject: Visiting the county areas

Hi,
We may be visiting the area courthouses & libraries
within the next couple of weeks.
Are birth, death, and marriage records available
for viewing by the public? What years do they
begin? Or are we just limited to looking at the indexes?
What about deeds/mortgages....can you see the
actual records?
What are the cost for copies of any of these records?
When are the courthouses open and what are the addresses?
Is there a library close by that has old Iowa papers on microfilm?
Any suggestions for doing the best research in this area would
be appreciated. Looking mainly for info from 1850-1920
Thanks,
Selma
