Lots of new goodies on the The Original Muscatine Co IA
Genealogy Home Page
in the past few weeks:
The link to the main site is:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~iamusca2/index.html
Note this is an independent website not affiliated with any
group, company
or project, and is maintained by a single individual with a
lot of donated
data from folks just like you.
First, I've streamlined the Table of Contents. Since 1996
the site has
just grown larger and larger and it was time to "tidy up the
file cabinet"
Data added in the past two weeks includes
* Trinity Episcopal Church, Muscatine IA, Parish Baptism
Records by Eleanor
McCleary, historian for Trinity Episcopal Church
* County Clerks Offices in the Greater Muscatine County Area
* Historical Maps and Boundary Changes (somehow this got
"unlinked" so it
is back)
* Locales and Settlements of Muscatine County with Maps
(includes many now defunct
locations)
* Civil War 1883 Pension Listing (may contain some War 1812
Vets)
* Muscatine Co. World War 1 Newspaper Articles contributed by
Eleanor McCleary
* Muscatine Co. World War 1 Soldier Roster contributed by
Eleanor McCleary
* Known Deaths of Muscatine Men During World War I
* Muscatine Co. World War 2 Casualty List
* Muscatine Co Area Korean Conflict Casualties
* Muscatine Co Area Viet Nam Casualties
* Genealogical Societies in the Greater Muscatine County Area
* Historical Societies in the Greater Muscatine County Iowa Area
* 1879 History of Muscatine Co Biographies-townships now
COMPLETE are
Cedar, Fulton, Montpelier, Orono and Sweetland--biographies
have been added to several
other townships and are being transcribed by request at no
charge.
* Updated listings of locations for posting queries, surnames
and gedcom files
* Updated list of links useful in researching your Muscatine
area ancestors
*Harker Cemetery, Sec 9, Sweetland Twp-history and revised
burial listing done by Eleanor
McCleary in conjunction with the Sweetland Township
Trustees (we thank them for
permission to use this data)
*Early Settlers of Muscatine County 1834-1839- Sorted by
date of settlement
* Over 50 more obituaries added to the obit archives
Three other cemetery projects are almost complete which will make the old
records
more up to date and accurate. I'll post those when they are complete.
If you have not visited the website lately, you may want to check back, as
there is a LOT of new data!
