Subject: Transcribing Records

The Seattle public library and the University of Washington have very
large and rather extensive libraries. The Seattle downtown branch has a
full-time genealogy librarian and a large portion of the first floor
dedicated to genealogy and family history.

I want to put special emphasis on the fact that I can not and will not
be doing this alone. I need your help. Some people have responded to my
earlier requests for volunteers. And I thank them. However if this is
going to be useful for a wide variety of people we will need more
volunteers to transcribe records. I will only be doing the records that
pertain to my family. I will be transcribing the cemetery records where
my ancestors are buried, etc. So it is incumbent on you to help if you
want to make this data available to people via the internet.

I will be contacting the Iowa GenWeb staff to see how to get the
records.

Aaron

Dear Aaron-

Received your message. Congratulations on taking-on a daunting
task.

Obviously, I'm not up to speed on how all of this works, i.e., how
will you, living in
Seattle, transcribe the cemetery records of XXX? If this is a case
where the cemetery
provides the basic records in hard-copy, I'd be interested in Woodlawn
Cemetery in Des
Moines. I've got a number of relatives buried there.

Please keep me informed.

Best Wishes,

Robert Askew
