Greetings list,
I looking for information on a James Martin that lived in Des Moines in
1930. In the 1930 census he and his wife Ruth lives at 1629 E. 28th Street
and he is listed as working for the City Street Dept. as a pipe layer. Ruth
is deaf and mute and at the time they had 8 children. James was born in
Keokuk County, Iowa, and Ruth is listed as being born in Nebraska. All the
children are listed as being born in Iowa. James may have gone by Reuben
Jacob or R. J, or J. R.
James had a sister Sarah Alice (Martin) Knight that lived at 1322 Grandview
and her husband was Pleasant Knight who had a shoe repair shop.
