Mary V. Kennedy, 63, of Muscatine, died Thursday, June 7, 2001 at her home in Muscatine after an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mary were at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2001, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home in Muscatine with the Rev. Mike Spangler officiating. Pallbearers were family and friends. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Mary's name at the funeral home.

Mary V. Kennedy was born November 10, 1937, in Davenport, IA., the daughter of Charles and Hulda (Holst) Nissen. On November 8, 1957, Mary was united in marriage to Lawrence Kennedy in Muscatine.

Mary was a 1955 graduate of Muscatine High School and a past member of the Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school. She had worked at Montgomery Wards, the ASCS office in Muscatine, the Nelson Clearing House, and ARAMAK. Mary owned and operated Mary's Pooch Parlor for the last 10 years. Mary loved sewing, camping, racing, and animals, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Mary will be dearly missed by her husband, Lawrence of Muscatine; two sons, Nick and Andrew of Muscatine; her daughter Glenda Kennedy and her companion, Jim Burch, also of Muscatine; two grand-children, Sidney Foster and Ashley Kennedy; two sisters, Kathleen Reichert of West Branch, Ia. and Cheryl Nissen of Muscatine; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Lawrence "Waldo" Kennedy.
