Subject: [IASCOTT] Brockmann/Petersen immigration to Davenport 6/12/1865
Date: Sat, 9 Nov 2002 14:44:31 -0600
I am looking for information on the following people:
1. J.D. Brockmann (probably Johannes Dietrich), born October 10, 1837 (in Hohenwestedt?). Married to Hansine Petersen in Davenport, Iowa 30 August 1865. J.D. and Hansine traveled to America on the ship GERMANIA, from Hamburg, arriving in America on June 12, 1865. Hansine was a daughter of Peder Christian Jessen (born 1807 in Bedsted) and Bodil Marie Christensdatter (born 1803 in Stenderup, Føvling. According to the family, Hansine came to America with her parents, but no one matching her parents has been found yet in American records.
2. Henry Brockmann, born 27 August 1847 and came to America at age 19 (about 1866). He married Christina Petersen, sister of Hansine Petersen, in Davenport, Iowa on 16 April 1869.
J.D. and Henry were supposed to have been sons of Henry Brockmann and Anna Eggers.
My connection to these people is through yet another sister of Hansine and Christina. My ancestor, Ane Catrine was born 9 January 1833 (place not known) and married Chresten Jeppesen (marriage place and date also not known). Chresten was born July 4, 1824 in He Parish, Rinkøbing. Ane Catrine and Chresten had a daughter, Elsa Marie Jeppesen, born September 1, 1856 in Løgumkloster. Elsa Marie Jeppesen came to Davenport, Iowa about 1889 to work for her aunt and uncle J.D. and Hansine Brockmann. About 1894 Elsa Marie Jeppesen married my great grandfather, Jacob Frost and remained in Davenport.
