I have my gggrandpa, Sanford Ackerman and family, in the 1860 census as
being enumerated next door to the county jail. He was living in
Davenport Twp at the time (not the City of Davenport). Does anyone know
where the county jail was in 1860? There were six "convicts":

John Kelly 25 M New York
J. W. Brophy 21 M Rhode Island
Alexis Freeland 20 M New York
Herman Beyer 43 M Hanover
Joanna Shaw 30 F Ireland
Augustus Johanson 28 M Germany
