This is my Great-Great Grandfather, b. in 1799 in Uxbridge, Mass. He was a Lawyer & a scoundrel. He married several times & as far as I can tell never bothered to divorce. He deserted his family, his Wife, Lydia (Chandler) & six children, to join in the Gold Strike in Ca. He ended up in Rock Island Ill. where he died. He lost a Son, George in the Civil War which prompted him to join the Graybeard Regiment. I would like to hear any input.
