Thank you for the offer to do a look-up. My g.g.grandfather was George
Shuck and lived in Scott County and died there. I have not found any
obituary or record of his burial or death. I found his probate and noted
that he died on Marcy 4, 1848 and had several doctors visits before that.
He was born Mar 1817 in Ohio and was married to Mary Van Duzen on July 4,
1844. They had two sons, Jacob and John M. and George died young--31 years.
It could have been cholora since I have read many people were meeting
their deaths due to that terrible disease. George lived in the Hickory
Grove area and had several brothers--John and Christopher (exectors of will)
It would be wonderful to find an obituary or a record of his burial.
Mary remarried to Wm H. Jones (He bought the farm) and they had several
children. Jacob was my great grandfather and ended up in South Dakota, had
11 children and died in Hawarden, Iowa in 1939.
