HARTLEY.
This morning at 3 o'clock occurred the death of Mr. William Hartley at his
home 734 west High street, after a protracted illness. Mr. Hartley, who was a
resident of this city for 41 years past, was a respected citizen and a wide
circle of friends and acquaintances will deplore his death. His wife and three
sons, Edward, Michael and William survive to mourn his loss. Mr. Hartley was
born in Kilkenny, Ireland, and had reached the age of 64 years.
The funeral will take place tomorrow morning with services at St. Mary's
church at 9 o'clock. Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery.

OBITUARY.
Flynn
Patrick Flynn, a respected resident of this city, died at his home 2103
Farnham street, at 9 o'clock this morning. Mr. Flynn caught a slight cold some
days ago, but it did not appear to be serious. This morning however he had a
sudden sinking spell and he died before the physician who was summoned could
arrive. The cause of death was ascertained to be heart failure.
Mr. Flynn was born in Ireland, but was a resident of Davenport for the past
twenty-two years. There survives to mourn his loss three children, Thomas J., in
New York City, and Patrick H and Mary at home, a sister, Mrs. Patrick Rush of
Davenport and a brother Thomas of New York City.
The funeral will take place Saturday morning with services at Sacred Heart
cathedral at 9 o'clock. Interment will be in St. Marguerite's cemetery.

January 24, 1896
M'CARTY
On his farm four miles north of Holbrook, Monday, shortly before midnight
after an illness of some duration of dropsy occurred the death of John M'Carty
formerly of this city. Mr. McCarty was born in Ireland 81 years ago last
December and came to Davenport fifty years ago. He resided here until 1870 when
he moved to his farm near Holbrook. He will be remembered by many of the older
residents of this city as a man of sterling qualities. Honest and genial he had
a host of friends here.
He is survived by his sons John, who lives in Dakota, Michael, Joseph and
Jerry of Holbrook.
The remains will arrive over the C.R.I. & P. Tuesday and the funeral
services will take place at 9 tomorrow morning from Sacred Heart cathedral.
Interment at St. Mary's cemetery.

BARRON.
Mrs. Ellen Barron, of 513 East Tenth street, passed away at the home at
11:30 o'clock this forenoon. Deceased was eighty-seven years of age and was born
in County Linn [ Leitrim?] Ireland. She came to this country and settled in
Kentucky in 1850 and in 1852 was married to Thomas Barron. Two years later they
settled on a farm in Hickory Grove township. In 1867 they moved to Davenport and
the husband died shortly afterward. The wife then moved to a farm in Princeton
township and remained there until 1882 when she returned to Davenport and lived
in this city until 1897 when she went to live with a daughter, Mrs. John King,
at Princeton. The family moved to Davenport a year ago, where she has since
resided. The funeral will be held Wednesday from the residence with services at
Sacred Heart Cathedral at 9 a.m. The interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery.
