Hello Paula, The H you asked about is middle name of Charles Herron Ferguson. He was named after his Uncle by marriage, Charles Herron, whose family was from Ireland. Also none of his 8 brothers were named Harper. Named the following: Robert E.; George T.; Jasper J; Edward; Joseph D.; 3 1/2 brothers named: Samuel; James & Hal. The bro's lived in Monroe Co., Jasper Co.; and Shelby. They were all born in Adams Co. IL and Jasper Co. IA. Where in IA did you Fergusons live and what state the generation before?
