Sam Sloan - this message is to followup on your post regarding Axel Jacobson.
I searched Ancestry.com and found the following information including axel
in 1885 census in Orient, Adair, Ia. There is also a reference to a court
case when Axel was 92.

Some of this information is part of the free databases at Ancestry. I
suggest you go to Ancestry.com and use the advanced search function. I used
Soundex rather than exact for surname search. I also limited my search to
Iowa and time period of 1860 to 1945. Since Axel is an uncommon first name
there are limited results. There are 25 posting under family genealogy. I
only reviewed one of the entries.

On June 21, 1935, at the age of 92, Axel Jacobson won an important court case
in the Iowa Supreme Court. The decision is published in the lawbooks as
Jacobson vs. Spriggs, 261 NW 613
(19 35).
