Researching: Depew, Burris, Cox, and Vass

Researching Joseph Mabry Depew s/o James Depew and Susannah Cox Depew, James died before the family arrived in Iowa. The family first appears in the Wapello County census in 1850 with Susannah and several siblings. Joseph married Amelda Jane Burris in Wapello, County on 16 March 1856. She appears in the 1850 census living with the Depew family as a young girl. Amelda was born 10 July 1840 in Indiana. Her parents and history prior to 1850 is unknown. There is only speculation as to how she came to live with the Depew family. The Depew family lived in the Agency or Ashland areas. Joseph joined the 22nd Iowa Infantry and served in Company E. During Joseph's absence the family appears to have moved to Scotland County, Mo to be near other family memers, but returned to Wapello County following the war. Joseph and Armelda moved from Wapello County to Missouri in the early 1870's eventually settleing in Dallas County, Missouri. Joseph's mother Susanna Cox Depew appears to remain in!
Wapello County and resided with a daughter until her death. Her date of death and burial location is unknown. Joseph's sister Mary Depew married Thomas Vass 12 June 1856, she died 18 April 1870 in Eldon, Wapello County. After which Thomas Vass relocated to Kansas.

Would appreciate hearing from anyone who may have information on these families as well as the 22nd Iowa Infantry, Company E.
