Albert,
Are you sure it happened in Wapello County? Like you I have never heard of
silver mines around here. I do know that many Iowans went to Montana,
Wyoming, and Idaho to mine silver, but not in Wapello county.

I just received information that an ancestor may have died in a silver
mining accident, possibly in the early 1860's. I know that there are coal
mines in Iowa, are there also silver mines ? Could be faulty family lore.
