Hi,
Thanks for your quick response, I don't know whether they were catholic or
not...

As I've stated, I have Amazilla listed on the 1850 Wapello Census with my 3rd
Great Grandmother Emma J.Eastman-Mull living as a child. There were 6 of the 7
known children living in the household at the time.

If my secondary source information is right, Amazilla married Joel Eastman in
1831 in Licking County Ohio. The first three (or four)children were born there
in Licking with the others born in Iowa. (Still looking for records)

Joel moved the family to Wapello county somewhere between 1839 and 1841. I
have been informed that there are tax census records listing Joel for 1846 and
1847 (I believe). Another researcher has Joel dying in and around 1848. I
requested sources from the other researcher but have not heard from them yet.

I have Iowa marriage records indicating Amazilla Eastman remarried a Peli(e)g
Che(e)ver in 1855 in Dubuque County Iowa. I have similar marriage records
indicating Amazilla's daughters also all married in and around Dubuque. This
indicates that the whole family may have "Sold the Farm" Somewhere prior to
1855 and moved to Dubuque.

Another clue... one source listed Amazilla's maiden Name as Belknap. Further
research indicates that she may have been the daughter of Elijah Belknap and
Catherine Garlinghouse of Ontario, New York. If this is Correct, One of her
brothers is listed as Gamiliel Belknap who enumerated on the same 1850 census
page as Amazilla Eastman there in Wapello. There is also a Garlinghouse and
her other brother James M. Belknap listed on the same census record.

My problem with this line is that I don't have primary sources backing the
excellent secondary information available.

I guess what I am looking for is the death information on Joel Eastman or at
least proof that he was a resident of Wapello. A death record, a probate
record, or tax records would be ideal.

Again, thanks for your help and consideration.

Regards,

Pat
