Eveline Tongate, 78 of Boise, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2002 at a Boise hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 27, 2002 at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N. Cloverdale Rd., Boise with Pastor Trevor Estes officiating. Burial will follow at Cloverdale Memorial Park.
Eve was born on February 24, 1924 in Montpelier, Idaho to Roy O. and Edith (Lindley) Sorensen. She came to Boise when she was young and attended Park Elementary, North Junior High and graduated from Boise High School. She married Gerald Stackle on June 15, 1942 in Pima, Ariz. She married Herb Tongate on December 14, 1973 in Boise. She worked as a retail clerk for the J.J. Newberry store, Wells Department Store and Grand Central store in Boise. Over her life she collected dolls, especially Disney characters, Shirley Temple and Patsy dolls. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and making afghans.
Eve is survived by 3 sons; Sam Stackle and wife Mary of Mountain Home, Gene Stackle and wife Gay of Baker City, Ore., Jerry Stackle and wife Deana of Boise, 2 daughters; Patty of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Sally Denny and husband Tim of Boise. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Scott, Shelly, Charlene, Courtney, Leonard, Carrie, Cody, Holly and Wade, 2 step grandchildren: Jack and James, 3 great granddaughters, a sister in law Faye Sorensen, 3 dear friends: Betty Pittenger, Daisy Porter, Sandy Bayliffe and other friends and family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Herb, her parents and a brother Lindley Sorensen. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Shriners Childrens Hospital, 3101 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97239.
