John Donald Cozzens, 96, of Cokeville, Wyoming, died Friday, May 31, 2002, in Worland, Wyoming. He was born Feb. 10, 1906 in Montpelier, Idaho to William Ernest and Martha Ann Brown Cozzens.
He married Grace Timmreck on May 27, 1927. She passed away in July of 1979. He later married Millie Smith Armatage in the Logan LDS Temple in 1983 and she passed away in 1990.
He owned Cozzens Cash Store in Cokeville which he opened in the 1930's and ran until 1995. He was the Volunteer Fire Chief in Cokeville for 35 years and served many years on the Senior Citizen's Board. He enjoyed gunsmithing, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Don is survived by one daughter, Joyce Dayton of Cokeville, WY, one granddaughter, Sally Cullen Robinson of Worland, WY, two great-grandchildren, John Dustin Cullen and Kellee Marie Merritt, one great-great-grandson, Max Wayne Merritt, one sister, Flora Dayton of Cokeville, WY, and two brothers, Glen Cozzens and Junior Cozzens, both of California. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Edward Dayton.
Funeral services were held June 4, 2002. in the Cokeville LDS Chapel. Burial was in the Cokeville Cemetery, with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier, Idaho.
