Bertha McMurray Hansen, age 94, passed away peacefully July 11, 2003. Bertha was born June 6, 1909 in Liberty, ID a daughter of George Vickers and Nellie Austin McMurray. She grew up in Liberty as the second of five children. She worked hard on the farm and learned the need for hard work and thrift. She attended schools there, including the old Fielding Academy, and went on to Idaho State College.

She met Fay Alma Hansen in Salt Lake City while she was attending Henagers Business College. They were married Oct 30, 1930 and started their lives together in the middle of the Great Depression. They reared three sons in Salt Lake City and taught them the value of hard work and enterprise. Fay preceded her in death, 1986. She was an ordinance worker 25 years in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was self-sufficient, living alone in her condo until 2002.

She is survived by her sons, Murray (Suzanne), Littleton, CO, Merrill (Jeanne), Gary (Alice), Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grand-children; and sibling, Donna McMurray Pay. Services, Tues. July 15, 12 noon Brighton LDS 5th Ward Chapel, 2525 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S). Friends and family may call Mon. July 14, 2003, 6-7:30 p.m. Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S) and day of the service at the church 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Murray City Cemetery, 5600 S. Vine St. (750 E).
