POCATELLO - Robert Shepherd Derricott, 60, passed away at his home Saturday, September 25, 2004. He was born October 23, 1943, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Joseph Fredrick and Velate (Shepherd) Derricott. His family moved to Pocatello in 1944, and he attended Washington Elementary, Franklin Junior High, and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1962. Robert served in the Army Reserves from 1962-1965.


He married Marilyn Munger July 11, 1962. They were later divorced. He married Wilma Lee Maire March 29, 1965, and they were later divorced. He met the love of his life, Sharon Kay Magnuson, and they were married October 14, 1983, and were married nearly 25 years.

Robert worked for Simplot in Heyburn, Idaho, from 1962-1965, then for Gate City Steel from 1965-1970, and for the Union Pacific Railroad from 1970-1995, when he retired.

He was a member of the Elk's Lodge. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating. He loved the outdoors, he was an umpire for baseball and softball, worked with the Boy Scouts, enjoyed antique cars, quick-draw pistol skits, archery, bowling, darts, pool, dominoes, card games, crocheting, Western movies - John Wayne and Louis L'Amour novels.

He will be deeply missed by all those that knew him.

Robert is survived by his wife, Sharon Derricott, Pocatello; children, Da Lena (Bob) Patterson, Pocatello, Joseph (Jessica) Derricott, Iona, Idaho, Robert (Michelle) Derricott, Melbourne, Fla., Raymond (Camille) Derricott, Pocatello, Thomas Stirrat, Arizona, and Timothy Stirrat, Pocatello; a brother, Gordon (Bonnie) Derricott, Pocatello; 20 grandchildren; and especially missed by his four poodles, most notably by Foxy; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A campfire gathering for family and friends to celebrate his life will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2004, at the FMC Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave., Pocatello.
