CECIL JOHNSON

Cecil O. Johnson, 89, of 1312 S. Second Ave. died Jan. 19, 1990, at Walla
Walla General Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church. Robert McCoy,
pastor of the Christ Lutheran Church, and Ken Carlson, pastor of the Zion
Lutheran Church, Spokane, will officiate. Burial will follow in Mountain
View Cemetery. Ritualistic service will be conducted by BPOE No. 287.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or a charity of
the donor's choice through the Herring Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St.

Mr. Johnson attended Dry Creek School and Dayton High School. Following his
schooling, he hauled freight by wagon to the Mary Blue Mine in the central
panhandle of Idaho. He homesteaded in Bear Valley, Idaho, and had a logging
and tie-hacking operation at Rock Flat, Idaho. He later returned to the
Walla Walla area where he farmed.

He married Helen Harding on Aug. 28, 1937, in a Walla Walla. The couple
made their home in Walla Walla where Mr. Johnson continued to farm. He also
went into the real estate business and was a broker specializing in
farmland.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge 287, Eagles Lodge 26,
Prospect. Grange and Senior Citizens of Walla Walla. He enjoyed traveling
with his wife and the couple had enjoyed trips abroad with friends.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, at the home; three daughters, Marjorie
Lamb and Eva May Lamb, both of Dixie, and Nancy Free of Walla Walla; a son,
Les Johnson of Walla Walla; a foster son of Donald Kuykendall of Johnson
City, Oregon; a sister, Velma Peck of Sacramento, Calif.; 17 grandchildren;
37 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by two sons, Frank and Francis "Buddy" Johnson; a daughter, Celia
Hope; two brothers, Harry Johnson and G.C. MacLeod; and three sisters, Ethel
McIntyre, Anna Roff and Ava Buttice.
