OGDEN -- Margaret Kirkham Smellie McKeen, age 87, passed away on November 1, 2002, at her home in Ogden, Utah. She was born March 31, 1915 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to John Taylor Smellie and Esther Ruth Kirkham.

She married Arthur Marshall McKeen on September 14, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He passed away April 18, 1977. She was raised by her loving stepmother, Maria Ricks Smellie, in Franklin, Idaho. She graduated from Franklin High School and attended the University of Utah.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Relief Society and Primary, Name Extraction and Family History programs and served a Church Service Mission. She was also involved in voter registration.

She is survived by her children; Miriam Lenore Fa"atuai of Ogden, Utah; Jeanette Newmaker of New Athens, Ohio; Elaine D"Agnillo of Pleasant View, Utah; Barbara Beck of Spokane, Washington; Susan Nye of West Jordan, Utah; Bob McKeen of Farmington, Utah; Marcia Black of Beaver, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, her siblings: Robert Smellie of Tetonia, Idaho; and Esther Simmons of Shamong, New Jersey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, two sisters and two grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriner"s Hospital for Children, Fairfax Road at Virginia Street, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2002, at the North Ogden 7th Ward Chapel, 205 E. Elberta Drive, North Ogden, Utah. Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
