MALAD — Golden Clifford Ward, 96, of Malad passed away Friday, July 28, 2006, at his home of natural causes.He was born Jan. 28, 1910, in Malad, Idaho, a son of Joseph Welton and Elizabeth Christianna Allen Ward. He was a lifelong resident of Malad. He graduated from Malad High School and attended Utah State University and Brigham Young University.
He married Emma Louise Spencer on Oct. 28, 1937, in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple, and eight children were born to this marriage, J. Golden (Alice) of Tremonton, Utah; J. Spencer (Arline) of Hyrum, Utah; Richard A. (Helen) of Malad; Mary of Malad; Lorene Kay Marsing (Carl) of Lehi, Utah; Carol Dawn of Malad; Ryan D. (Bobbie) of Malad; and Kenneth W. (Tracy) of Malad.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings throughout his life.
He was devoted to his family and always emphasized education and service. He supported seven of his children on missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and helped all of his children attain goals in higher education.
He farmed and ranched all his life and was especially talented as a teamster and horseman. He has a kind and gentle nature and was a man of integrity and principle. He loved music and had a beautiful bass voice.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Annie Evans Ward; four brothers, Joseph W., George E., J. Moroni (June) and Rulon A. (Rose), and three sisters, Cleophia Ward, Mary Ellis and Eunice Tovey.
He is survived by his sisters, Lucille Carlson of Orem, Utah; Donna Bowen and MayDell (Lloyd) Barfus, Malad. He is also survived by 42 grandchildren and 82 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006, at 12 noon in the Malad Stake Center. Friends may call at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 West 300 North on Monday, July 31, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Aug. 1, 2006, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Interment will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
