Nettie Pierce Smith, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away April 12, 2007 at home in Sandy, Utah of natural causes related to age. She was 96. Nettie was greatly loved by her family and friends. She was a kind and gentle lady and will be greatly missed. Nettie was born in St. John, Idaho May 24, 1910 the second child of William and Sarah (Jones) Pierce. She had an older sister, Marianne (Williams) and a younger brother, Sherman. She attended grade school in St. John and high school in Malad, graduating in 1929. She earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from Utah State.
She married her sweetheart, Franklin Edward Smith, June 29, 1937. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple July 18, 1957. They had three children, Douglas Pierce Smith, Phyllis Smith, and Bruce Lee Smith. Frank's work took them to many different cities. They lived in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, New Mexico, Utah, and Idaho. Nettie was a wonderful school teacher. She taught four years in St. John, Preston, ID for two years, and 15 years in Idaho Falls. She enjoyed her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchil-dren very much. She enjoyed cooking, playing games, reading stories or teaching fun activities to her grandchildren. She also had a beautiful rose garden and a lovely vegetable garden that she loved sharing with neighbors and friends. Nettie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in Sunday School, Mutual, Primary, and Relief Society. She was a worker in the Idaho Falls Temple for15 years. Nettie was precede!

She is survived by her husband, Franklin Smith; son, Bruce (Jan) Smith, Murray; daughter-in-law, Carol Smith, Murray; 10 grandchildren, Jeff (Melissa) Smith, Provo, Liz (Mike) Mower, Murray, David Smith, Murray, Jennifer (Jeff) Crane, Lehi, Lori (Nate) Walnum, Glendale, AZ, Sarah (Jason) Dunn, Taylorsville, Robert (Karin) Smith, Des Moines, IA, Greg Smith, Scottsdale, AZ, Richard Smith, Murray, Allison Smith, Murray. She is survived by 12 great-grandchildren. Viewing, Wednesday, April 18th 6-8 p.m., Jenkins-Soffe 4760 South State Street, Murray, and Thursday, April 19th 6:30-8p.m., Wood Funeral Home, Idaho Falls, ID. Funeral Services, April 20th 11a.m., 16th Ward Building, 885 S. Blvd. Viewing one hour prior to services.
