A. L. Goldsmith Is Drowned
A letter was received from W. H. Goldsmith last Saturday dated at Wallula Junction, stating that he was on his way to Portland to identify the body of his brother, who lost his life in a shipwreck. The brother A. L. Goldsmith was a passenger on the ill fated Francis Leggett that went down off the coast of Oregon on Friday, September 18. Although the wreck occurred only 20 miles out from the Columbia river, there were only two out of a list of 80 that were picked up. W. H. Goldsmith was employed on the Banner until some time in June of the present year and his brother was here and in Ontario about a year ago.
