This list has been kind of quiet lately, so I thought I would stir it up.

Sue, thanks so much for sharing this. I have not heard it on any other lists! This is really disappointing; ancestry is just eating everything up, England and Ireland (governments) have discovered Americans will pay high prices, even Cook County, IL is upping their fees as they go online. Look at all the new subscriptions: Genealogybank, Footnotes, World Vital Records. Big Business! Too bad for us small gen addicts that are being eaten alive.

Hi Cheryl,
ancestry.com has always owned rootsweb but they are now going to
change the server name to rootsweb/ancestry.com and some feel that
ancestry.com will eventually start charging for the server and
charging people to use the services that were always free. There has
been a lot of buzz on the net about it. If you have a lot of rootsweb
links you may want to keep check on them. I'm going to have to go
back through our link section and make sure we have no broken links
due to this change.
