HI List-
It is true, our list is primarily about Schaumburg Township in Cook County,
Illinois, but just last night I read through the German-KINGDOMS list and
pulled out some posts that may or may not have been seen by others who have
subscribed to our growing list.
Since our township is so linked with Schaumburg Lippe, I did pull a few
submits that were more Schaumburg-Lippe based.
However, if you had a family group and a member was LOST, one of these
afield locales might just be the place to find them....
As you read another post on this subject, WINKELHAKE is one such family.
They did come early to Schaumburg Township and then after staying a short
time, the two 'brothers'/'uncles' took their family groups and moved,
leaving Cristoph to stay in the township. There is no record that I have
seen that actually states that a family group has left the Schaumburg
ILLinois area. We have to depend on 'backing into' the correct locale. These
would be some that I would start in if I was LOOKIN'
valentine

Hi Listers

I recently subscribed to this list as I had thought it related to Cook
County. This message has me a bit confused as I didn't think either Cook
County or Schaumberg were in Southwestern Illinois??

Anyway, my great grandparents, Friedrich (Fritz) Becker and wife, variously
called Christine, Frances, Ada, Ida, came to Illinois in the early 1870's
presumably to an uncle named Blum or Blume. I believe this uncle was
probably Carl Theodor Gustav Blume who was married to Amalia Auguste Girard.
The Becker's first child was born in Blue Island, Illinois in 1874. The
family then moved to Crawford County, Iowa. The reason I believe Carl Blume
was the uncle is that I have found the Blume family in Cook County and then
in Crawford County at the same time the Beckers moved there. I have also
been told that Fritz Becker's mother was French and was from
Alsace-Lorraine. As the name Amalia Girard sounds French I can't help but
wonder if perhaps Carl Blume was an uncle by marriage and that Amalia Girard
was the blood relative.

Anyone know anything about the Beckers, Blumes or Girards??

Thanks
Roger

There is a list on the site listed below of persons that settled in
southwestern Illinois.
My webpage also lists my ancestors that came from Schaumburg-Lippe.
