6. LEGAL - TAXES - LEVY
(A NOTE: Today, taxes are levied on THOUSAND DOLLAR increments, not one
hundred dollars. This fact makes these levies more like $.066 per thousand!)
1918, September 2
F W Botterman Commissioner of Highways and W C Kreft Town Clerk
The undersigned Commissioner of Highways of said town in a regular meeting
assembled on this 2nd day of September AD 1919 being the first Tuesday in
said month as provided by Act of the General Assembly approved June 29th
1917 does hereby certify that at a regular meeting held on the first Tuesday
in September to wit on the 2nd day of September AD 1919 for the purpose of
determining the tax rate to be certified by him to the County Board that the
said Commissioner of Highways did fix and determine the rate of tax
necessary to be raised for the proper construction, maintenance and repair
of roads and bridges in said town at 66 cents on each one hundred dollars
and the said Commissioner of Highways in a regular meeting on the date first
above mentioned does hereby certify to the County Board of said County that
the amount determine to be raised by taxation upon all the taxable property
in said town for the year AD 1919 for the aforesaid purposes is Fifty five
hundred Dollars. And it is hereby further certified that the amount agreed
upon allowed or awarded as damages "for widening roads" is $800.00. The
total amount of the aforesaid levies being sixty three hundred dollars.
Witness my hand this first Tuesday of September AD 1919 the same being the

The undersigned commissioner of Highways of said town of Schaumburg in a
regular meeting assembled on the 3rd day of September AD 1918 being the
first Tuesday in said month, a provided by Act of the General Assembly
approved June 29th 1917 does hereby certify that at a regular meeting held
on the First Tuesday in September to wit, on the third day of September AD
1918 for the purpose of determining the tax rate to be certified by him to
the County Board that the said Commissioner of Highways did fix and
determine the rate of tax necessary to be raised for the proper
construction, maintenance and repair of roads and bridges in said town at 61
cents on each one hundred dollars and the said Commissioner of Highways in a
regular meeting on the date first above mentioned does hereby certify to the
County Board of said County that the amount determined to be raised by
taxation upon all the taxable property in said town for the year AD 1918 for
the aforesaid purposes - Thirty six hundred dollars. The total amount of the
aforesaid levies being Thirty Six Hundred dollars. Witness my hand this
first Tuesday of September AD 1918 the same being the third day of said

approved June 29th 1917 does hereby certify that at a regular meeting held
on the first Tuesday in September to wit on the 7th day of September AS 1920
for the purpose of determining the tax rate to be certified by him to the
County Board that the said Commissioner did fix and determine the rat of tax
necessary to be raised for the proper construction, maintenance and repair
of roads and bridges in said town at 66 cents on each hundred dollars and
the said Commissioner of Highways in a regular meeting on the date first
mentioned does hereby certify to the County Board of said County that the
amount determined to be raised by taxation upon all the taxable property in
said town for the year AD 1920 for the aforesaid purposes is Fifty five
Hundred Dollars $5500.00, (plus) For widening roads $800.00, the total
amount of the aforesaid levies being Sixty three hundred dollars $6300.00.

Motion made and seconded that same be accepted as read.
1954, September 7 Schrage, Redeker moved and seconded that a levy of ..125%
of the full cash value of taxable property be levied for the year of 1954
(12.5 cents per 100 dollars).

1956, April 3 Town Clerk Louis Redeker: at close of fiscal year:
TOWN FUNDS: $780.27 on hand;
Road and BRIDGE FUND, $420.44;
RELIEF FUNDS $753.99 and no levy for relief in 1956 required.
and $2500.00 to be levied for the year 1956.
7. PROJECTS, CONTRACTS and BIDDING and EQUIPMENT NOTES
1924 Better Roads Service was paid $190 for each of three graders
1931, October 14 Tractor and Equipment Company of 551 W Van Buren Street
Chicago bid of $2300.00 payable $1750 upon delivery of machinery and the
balance $595. payable not later than April 1 1932 for road equipment
consisting of a tractor, snow plow and scarifyer be accepted and an order
placed with them. All present members voted YES. and 75% of the purchase
was to be raised from the sale of TAX Anticipation Warrants payable out of
the 1931 taxes.
1936, September Sporleder, Redeker. Frank Sporleder brought up that the
township grader was in bad shape and not fit for decent grading therefore it
was moved by F W Pfingsten and seconded Herman Lichthardt that Frank
Sporleder let bids for new grader suitable for the township of Schaumburg
and purchase same from lowest bidder with the approved request for the
purchase of one caterpillar #22 grader. at a cost of $749.95 and 2% discount
of 15.00
and in November 9, 1936 it was purchased from Patten Tractor Equipment for
the noted amount above.
8. VACATING OFFICES and REAPPOINTMENTS
1924, April 10 Aug Geistfeld reappointed to act as Thistle Commissioner and
to receive $5.00 per day for his services. and the Commissioner of Highways
(F W Botterman to be $6.00 per day. And, approved Better Roads Service Co
purchase of 3 graders $190.00 each.
1925 W C Kreft leaves the township July 1st 1925 and vacates his Town Clerk
Position, and Herman F Kastning is appointed to fill the vacancy as the town
clerk on June 25, 1925
1935 At the September 3, 1935 meeting Rudolph G Amling the Town Clerk has
tendered his resignation as Town Clerk because he moved form the township
and Louis Redeker is appointed to fill the vacancy

Special Election
Notice is hereby given to the Legal Voters, residents of the Township of
Schaumburg County of Cook, Illinois that a special election of Officers of
said Township will take place Tuesday the 14th day of April, prozimo, being
the second Tuesday in said month. The Election will begin at the hour of 6am
and close at 5pm in the places designated as follows: Lengl's Hall in
Schaumburg Center. Petitions must be filed with Towns Clerk on or before
March 9, 1936. The officers to be elected are Two Justices of the Peace,
Two Constables to fill vacancies in said offices. Given under my hand this

1937, June 15 Fred W Pfingsten Supervisor, Louis Redeker Town Clerk, Frank

Kristan Justice of the Peace at a BOARD MEETING :
Whereas Joe Hortick came over to this meeting complaining about culver which
was put through Nerge Road by Frank Sporleder Commissioner without the
approval of the Town Board of Schaumburg and as same is natural water
course on the North Side of the Road is drained by former Owner of said
premises by a Tile Drain, a number of years ago before present property
owners got possession of said lands. Therefore the Towns Board refused to
approve said claim.
1943, September 7 At said meeting, Frank Sporleder Highway Commissioner
resigned as commissioner of Town of Schaumburg as of September 7, 1943 to
Chester Foust Justice of the Peace, resignation being accepted by him.
1944, March 28 Whereas Mr Emil F Schrage was appointed Highway Commissioner
of Schaumburg Township to fill the vacancy of Frank Sporleder who resigned
as commissioner of unexpired term of said office.
