My Apologies for This Very Late Edition of the SJCA eNews
Again, my computer, with the mailing list for this newsletter, was on the
blink. However, it is now up-and-running again, and so I wanted to get this
short issue off to everyone and bring you up-to-date on all that's happening
around the St. Johannes/Rest Haven Cemetery issue.

.. and there is actually not much at the present to report.

* The massive preliminary EIS report from the FAA contained almost nothing
in regards to the future of the cemeteries. More like a "we'll address this
issue later" approach.

* All of the legal teams, representing our sacred cemeteries, continue to
submit affidavits to the FAA, indicating why the proposed expansion project
is a bad idea on all levels of concerns.

* The Department of the Interior (Federal level) and the FAA and State
(State Level) are locked up as to whether St. Johannes Cemetery is eligible
status as a federal historical landmark. The Interior Department says "yes".
The local FAA and State preservation folks (guess whose pocket they are in)
say "no". Meanwhile, all the red tape is being worked through to establish
St. Johannes as a federal landmark.

* The next period of activity should be accruing around September, as the
FAA releases its final EIS statement as to the feasibility of the O'Hare
Modernization Plan. When events begin happening I will do my best to keep
everyone informed on what's taking place and if any action may be needed on
our part.

Our Words of Thanks
I would like to take this time to again lift up words of Thank You to the
fine team of attorneys who continue to press the case, with the FAA and in
court, for the protection of both St. Johannes and Rest Haven Cemeteries.

Words of appreciation go out to:

Joe Karaganis, Esq.
John Mauck, Esq.
The Becket Fund
The Alliance Defense Fund
Bob Sell, Esq., who continues to be a spokesman for St. John UCC, and its
liaison with all members of the legal team.

On behalf of all the members of St. John UCC and the SJCA eNews list, we
Thank You for all your continuing support and efforts.

And a sincere "Thank You" to everyone on the SJCA eNews mailing list, for
your continued concern, support and prayers.

Michael Kirchhoff
