According to the 1860 census Greenville Twp., Bond Co, IL a Martha
Rench, age 14, was living in the household of Aaron Rench, age 25,
farmer. His wife was Mary E. age 20.
Others in household included:
Fredonia age 4
Catherine age 2
Hepziahab age 7 mo
Rhoda age 69
Is this the Martha Rench who married Robert H. Powell in 1865? And who
were her parents?
Living close to them on this census was the family of John Rench listing
Wiley Powell there as a farmhand. He was Robert's brother and married
Elizabeth Cripe in 1860. She had a second marriage in 1865 to George
Bates. Anyone know what happened to Wiley? Was he killed in the Civil
War?
