Hi, Bob!

I'm not sure if we're in the same line of Davises or not. (Davis is almost
as complex as Jones or Smith, I think.) Two of my Sanderson ancestors
married Davis women and the two generations coalesce in Bond County. In
1838, Edward D. Sanderson married Judith Davis, d/o John and Frances Davis,
in Barren County, KY. In the 1840-41 time period, they moved north to
Illinois, along with several of Judith's siblings and their husbands. They
used apparently used money from the sale of her father's estate.

John G. Davis, a brother of Judith settled in Bond County. After time spent
in Madison and Effingham Counties and the death of his wife, Edward D.
Sanderson and two surviving sons, James Cowan and George William, ended up
living with John G. and his family.

James Cowan married Lucy Ann Davis, a d/o William Davis and Lucy Ann Nance
Davis,
in 1866. This William Davis was the son of a John T. Davis, who was
reputedly a Baptist minister in the first decade of the 19th century in
Trigg and Christian Counties, KY. William was born in KY about 1810.

Does any of this sound as if it may connect with your William Davis?

:) Sandy
