You are a good researcher...ask for sources...that is what I am trying to
accumulate to put these pieces together...I will give you what I think I
have...and you probably know what Shirley Williams has and any other
researchers of these lines
I just discovered that Andrew Jackson Mayfield was most likely a part of
this family, so I do not have tons of sources on the siblings yet...just
what you and other's had.

James and Nancy Mayfield were in Hickman co according to alot of
researchers...
..1820 Hickman co census

James Mayfield sr 000001-00001 of 45 and up...this James, the Father of
our James, was born 1775 or before...some people think he was child
of the famous James Mayfield that died at Eatons station...I do not have any
proof either way??

James Mayfield (Jr.) 210010-30010 this James of 26 under 45...if born
1780...he'd be about 40(James that married Nancy)
Sutherland Mayfield 100100-00010
William Mayfield 110110-00110
George Mayfield 000010-20100
Elijah Mayfield 000001-00101

James Mayfield Jr that is @ 40 in 1820 is shown on 1850 census for Fayette
co, Illinois
age @ 70 therfore born @ 1780 Nancy was @ 68 therefore born about 1782
in Va
His dad was James Mayfield Senior...

NOTE: I, Rania Treadwell, Jean Jorgensen and another researcher or two,
have discovered that Sutherland Mayfield died in Wash co Ark @ 1843,
William Mayfield dcsd @ 1844 Wash co Ark, James Mayfield of Bond and Fayette
co, Illinois and Ellender Sharp(Mayfield) married John Sharp on June 23
1799, are all siblings due to the extensive probate records written in
Washington co, Arkansas upon the death of William. (I and Rania have these
and can
cite them if need be) there were 6 siblings to William according to the
probate records...I have given 3, but 3 are still
elusive...perhaps the above George, there are other Mayfield's from Hickman
and Maury co's that I have not figured out where they belong...
Ellender is cited as a sister, Sutherland as a brother and James Mayfield
of Bond/Fayette co, Illinois as a brother to William Mayfield dcsd.
Additionally, in Ellender (Mayfield) Sharp's marriage record it states that
her
father, James Mayfield, gives bond for her marriage.
Marriage of record Jefferson co, Kentucky see date above.

There is more, but I have not set everything to paper yet.

Let's get back to James Mayfield Jr..above age about 40
shows children: 1820 census
2 boys under 10
1 boy of 10 and under 16
3 girls under 10

He is also listed on 1830 census Hickman co, but I do not have that yet.


supposed children:
1. Andrew Jackson Mayfield born 1811, Maury co (adj Hickman co) under 10 in
1820(My line)
2. John Mayfield born 1815 Tenn see 1850 census Madison co, Ark (Shirley
Williams line)
3.
4.Mira Mayfield born 1813 Tenn
5.Margery Mayfied...b: 1826 possible child (1850 census living next door to
James and Nancy)
6 Winnie Mayfield born 1820
7. Jeanette Mayfield born @ 1823...
8. James Mayfield born 1827 ??
9. William Mayfield born 1829

I have not accumulated any souces for children 2 thru 9...there may be more
children...I simply am using what you, Shirley and the 1850 census for
Fayette co, Illinois have suggested...I am working on sources yet for this.

I have no solid rock hard evidence that this James and Nancy are the parents
of my AJ Mayfield, but
#1. AJ's son cites James and Nancy Mayfield as parents to Andrew Jackson
Mayfield in the obit...
#2 James was in Hickman (Maury co was formed off Hickman) and Maury co at
the time of AJ's birth(court records for Maury co and census for Hickman co)
#3 AJ Mayfield lived next door to the above cited William, in wash co AR,
who died in wash Co ark and was brother to James of Illinois
(see 1840 census Wash co, AR)
#4 AJ Mayfield left Maury co about 1833 and went north to Illinois about
the same time James and Nancy did.
#5 AJ's first child was named James and died enrout to Illinois
#6 AJ's second child, Green Willis, was born in Illinois...(census records)
#7 by 1840 AJ was in Wash co AR with the siblings of his dad James...
#8 1850 AJ was in Barry co, Missouri...still close to his Uncles
family...John Mayfield, his brother, shows up in Madison co, AR...very close
to Barry and names a child Jackson.
#9 AJ's children are named similiar per this family see my homepage for
all of AJ's children and sources...
