I have contacted (and now corresponds with) Kristi Kliniski off-list. Some
of the family info may be of interest to others also:

The TENOLD surname originates in Vik which is a community on the Sognefjord,
in Western Norway. Many emigrants from that area (who came over in the 1840s
and 1850s) settled near the town of Capron in Boone County, IL. Subsequently
many moved west, e.g. to Worth County, IA and elsewhere in the Mid-West.

Ragnilda (Laura / Rachel) TENOLD's parents were immigrants from Vik, Sogn,
Norway and settled in Boone County, IL in 1846. They were Ole Olson TENOLD
1817-1876 and Sigrid Jonsdtr. AASE ca1808-1847 (his 1st wife). They came
with a son Ole O. TENOLD 1841-1914 and a daughter Kari 1843-?
In his 2nd marriage Ole O. TENOLD married Ragnhild Olsdtr. HOPPERSTAD
1819-1907, and they had 2 children born to them: Julia 1855-1906 and Sørine
1856-? Ole & Ragnhild eventually came to Winneshiek County, IA.

The "americanized" version of the Norwegian girl's name Ragnhild / Ragnilda
was most often Laura (or Rachel or Julia).

In the 1850 Census the family is shown as:
OLESON, Ole 36 Farmer b. in Norway
Oleson, Ole Jr. 8 b. in Norway
Oleson, Caroline (= Kari) 6 b. in Norway
Oleson, Rachel (= Ragnilda / Laura) 4 b. in Illinois

I have done extensive research on the Vik-emigrants, and I would therefore
be very interested to hear from anyone on the ILBOONE-list whose ancestors
connects with (descends from) immigrants from Norway. Many of these were my
relatives. Some surnames: Dale, Dahle, Dally, Oleson / Olson, Nelson,
Johnson, Tenold, Rolandson / Rolands, Hovey, Stall, Wing, Williams /
Williamson etc etc
